Was really looking for a sub-3 this year and didn't quite get it - that is really about the only story for this race.

Made it to halfway in 1:31:33 which is right where I wanted to be to pull a negative split.  I even took the 12th mile quite easy since I knew I was going to be at the half in good time.  I kept it easy until after the photographers take your picture after the 14 mile mark.  I turned it up right after there and had about a 6:43 mile.  Had another strong 16th mile and then that was pretty much the end of it.  Both sides of my groin were very tight including my right hamstring and I just couldn't move my legs very fast.  Knew the sub-3 was out the window but was pleased to still hit 20 in 2:21.  However, it just slowed down some more from there.  Can't say I'm really disappointed though - I can really say I haven't done the kind of training you really need to do to go run fast there.  All my long runs were Ultra-type running which is on terrain not conducive to fast running and even includes walking in the really tough parts.

Maybe next year - I probably won't do any Ultra's or if I do I'll do the more runnable ones.  I'll just focus on the marathon.

Sorry that your legs (and groin) fell apart later in the rest, but still a very respectable time! best of luck to you on the next marathon.

Cam,

We will have to get togther soon. Sorry it didn't go the way you wanted I know the sub 3 is yours very soon and you are one of the few people I know who I think is capable of hitting 2:30 and I am not just saying that. You are a stud and a huge motivator to me. You are going to have to take me out with some of your trail running buddies. I am really looking to change things up so let me know when you feel up to it. See you soon. I guess our flag football teams have the big game tomorrow. My boys are winless how about yours?

Thanks Kelli, Matt & RivertonPaul - SG is a fun race.

Matt - we'll have to catch up for sure. I'll still run the trails which I really enjoy but we'll have to get out on the roads too. I have no idea whether or not we've got any W's in FF...I know we've scored a couple TD's but I also know last week we got blanked! See you tomorrow.
